811 Day — the eleventh of the eighth month — is the industry's national awareness date, and we spent it downtown talking to the public.
Volunteers from member organizations staffed tables with locating equipment demonstrations, handed out safe-digging guides, and answered a steady stream of questions from people who had no idea the service existed, let alone that it was free and legally required.
